Preliminary rounds of the Second RAA Online Moot CompetitionThe preliminary rounds of the Second Annual Online Moot Student Competition of the Russian Arbitration Association took place on April 20–30, 2017. The VEGAS LEX law firm supports the competition as a partner of the event, and Head of Litigation practice Victor Petrov sits on the jury. The teams were split into plaintiffs and defendants for the preliminary rounds; the hearing was arranged as a videoconference. The arbitrators evaluated their online performances and procedural documents prepared by the teams. Sixteen teams** that scored the most points for online rounds will take part in the next stage of the RAA Competition. The second stage will be held on August 25–27, 2017. The RAA Conference for Students and Professional Lawyers on August 25 will be devoted to the problems of the RAA Competition curriculum and the development of the participants’ public speaking skills. On August 26–27, the teams will participate in oral hearings before the arbitrators. On August 27, the Organizing Committee will sum up the results of the competition online, and a closing ceremony will be held. One of the best speakers will have an opportunity to do internship at VEGAS LEX in February 2018 without qualification tests. The RAA competition is the largest student moot competition in the CIS in 2017, embracing more than 20 cities in Russia and Belarus. The organizing committee of the RAA Competition online and VEGAS LEX wish the teams success in the second round.
