VEGAS LEX discusses legal issues on fuel and energy market

On October 3, 2014, head of VEGAS LEX Fuel and Energy Group Alexander Lavrentyev  delivered a report on legal issues arising in fuel and energy companies’ operation at a meeting of leaders of power supply divisions and subsidiaries of the major energy company AtomEnergoSbyt* in Kursk.

Mr. Lavrentyev gave a detailed account of the evolution and new prospects of electricity retail markets and listed some of the major challenges facing the industry and consumers. He discussed important regulatory issues and existing legal acts regulating the industry and rationalized the need to initiate amendment of the legislation if appears ineffective in certain cases.

He also spoke about ways to improve law enforcement in the industry and to make it more effective. The relevant court cases he cited and considered drew a lot of interest from the audience.
