VEGAS LEX, FAS discuss antimonopoly compliance in pharmaceuticals and Best Practice Code for the industry

On May 26, the VEGAS LEX law firm organized a roundtable on Compliance Systems at Pharmaceutical Companies in the Context of Russian Antimonopoly Legislation, inviting head of the public services and retail oversight at the Federal Antimonopoly Service Timofei Nizhegorodtsev to speak at the event.

After VEGAS LEX Managing Partner Alexander Sitnikov gave a welcome address to the participants, Mr. Nizhegorodtsev and Manager of VEGAS LEX Life Sciences Projects Maria Borzova thoroughly discussed the system of risk and threat signs in trade policies and distribution agreements (including the principles for selecting trade partners). They also discussed ways to prove a counterparty’s illegal actions as well as procedural problems in applying Russian competition laws. Other issues considered at the roundtable included the FAS's involvement in drafting the Code of Conduct for pharmaceutical prducers.

The event was attended by leading market players including Krka Pharma, Abbott Laboratories, Teva, Astellas, GlaxoSmithKline, Roche Diagnostics Rus, Pharmstandard, Nizhpharm and other major companies.
