VEGAS LEX on favorable environment for intellectual property development

The Eighth International Forum on Intellectual Property – 21st Century, a regular event supported by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), kicked off in Moscow on April 20, 2015, to go on through April 24. The forum is organized by the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Federal Service for Intellectual Property, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Education and Science, the Intellectual Rights Court and other governmental and nongovernmental bodies.

Aleksandra Vasyukhnova, Head of Technology and Investment Group at VEGAS LEX, delivered a report on April 21 during the section on the Institutional Environment’s Influence on Intellectual Property Development. She spoke about the legal regulations that determine a favorable environment for intellectual property. She discussed the purpose and areas of application of certain institutional mechanisms, the protection of intellectual property and competition, the actual and planned changes in the government procurement regulations that influence the development of innovative and high-tech products, and alternative concepts of stimulating innovation in Russia and the world.

The participants will also address industrial property and copyright issues, practical application and commercialization of intellectual deliverables in Russia and internationally, legal protection of inventions, designs and brand names, effective IP dispute resolution practices and other issues.*

The event convenes representatives of government agencies, WIPO, Russian and international business leaders, major innovative companies, industry experts and other interested parties.
