VEGAS LEX joins discussion of energy companies’ problems and legislative changes at Market Council workshop

On April 17, Head of VEGAS LEX’s Energy Projects Practice Evgeniy Rodin spoke at a workshop, Regulations for Retail Markets of Power and Capacity in 2015, organized by the Market Council non-profit partnership* for senior executives and heads of structural divisions of power suppliers and grid operators, executives responsible for liaising with customers, and other market players.

Mr. Rodin’s report, Restrictions on Power Supplies and Some Aspects of Law Enforcement in the Electricity, Heat and Water Supply Business, covered important details such as who can initiate these restrictions, the procedure for imposing them and who they can apply to.

The participants also discussed the current regulations applicable to retail electricity markets, the rules for calculating the ceiling non-regulated electricity price for the so-called mono-consumers (major single consumers served by a power supply grid), the planned legislative changes, the enhancement of payment discipline, and the new methodology for calculating retail electricity prices for households**.
