VEGAS LEX earns recognition from the major legal guide Chambers Europe 2009

Vegas Lex receives recognition from Chambers Europe, a reputable British directory providing annual ratings of the leading lawyers and law firms in Europe. The rating results from an objective independent survey and is based on data obtained by Chambers analysts through a survey in the form of detailed interviews with clients and other market players. This survey assesses reputation and competency of European experts in legal support for businesses.

Following the research, three key practices of the Firm were recommended for business in Russia: the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Projects GroupArbirtration. Disputes. Litigation; and Corporate and M&A. Vegas Lex is the only Russian law firm recommended as an advisor for infrastructure and PPP projects in Russia.

Individual ratings of Chambers Europe single out managing partner Albert Eganyan in charge of the Firm’s PPP Practice “for his reliability and dedication to solving problems for his clients”. As reported by Chambers Europe, the Firm impresses its international peers with its “unmatched activity – they are virtually everywhere, often acting for the authorities”. Commentators admire the work of Vegas Lex on regional infrastructural projects and increasing experience of acting for both public and private clients. “Highlight work for the team during the past year has included advising on complex projects concerning the building of railway lines and industrial production facilities in the far regions of Russia”, says rating introduction. Presently, Vegas Lex supports the medium- and large-scale infrastructure and PPP projects with the use of innovative technologies and up-to-date tools and covers more than 50% of successful PPP Projects in the Russian market. As of the beginning of 2009, Vegas Lex supports 36 infrastructure and PPP projects for the total of more than $52 billion.

The Firm is also recommended for corporate projects. Sources highlight a large number of public corporations among the clients served by the Corporate Practice of Vegas Lex. Indeed, the clients of its Corporate Practice include Russian Railways, Rosnanotech, RusHydro, National Reserve Corporation, South Yakutia Development CorporationTrans-Baikal Development Corporation, MIC Severozapad-Prikamie (the Belkomur project), Steklonit, Seligdar, etc. Managing partner Albert Eganyan is named the primary contact of the Firm.

  

“Dispute Resolution” credentials of the Firm have been noted by Chambers, too, while Partner Alexander Sitnikov is named as the main contact for this area. Litigation” Practice advised such clients as AFK Sistema, ROSNO, Russian Railways, Ilyushin Finance & Co., National Reserve Corporation, MGTS, MTS, Astrakhangazprom, etc. Chambers analysts report that the team’s focus is reflected in the structure of the Moscow office with its separate arbitration and tax divisions. The survey showed that “Clients praise the team’s co-operative, responsive and client-oriented approach”.
