What businesses can expect from tax administration in 2016

On December 17, 2015 VEGAS LEX law firm hosted a roundtable, Trends in tax law and administration in 2015. What are businesses to expect in 2016?, for major Russian and foreign companies.

Deputy Director of the Russian Finance Ministry’s Department for Tax and Customs Policies Andrei Kizimov and Deputy Head of the Federal Tax Service Control Department Konstantin Novosyolov spoke at the event as guest experts. During the discussion, representatives of government agencies answered questions from the participants about the recent changes in legislation and tax management trends.

Manager of Tax practice projects Yuriy Ivanov spoke about the most important tax disputes in 2015. Citing specific litigation, the expert examined new opportunities to appeal the actions of tax authorities and the results of inspection on procedural grounds, and the possibilities of tax optimization confirmed by judicial decisions. He further considered some new risks and negative trends in judicial practice involving tax evasion, the collection of taxes from the taxpayer’s dependents, individual control measures, as well as the calculation of the VAT, corporate income tax and corporate property tax.

VEGAS LEX Tax practice associate Nikolay Rudomanov’s presentation focused on the use of tax incentives under Double Taxation Agreements and on new trends in the application of laws on beneficial ownership.
