VEGAS LEX supports First RAA Annual Online Moot CompetitionOn August 21–22, 2016, the Faculty of Law of the National Research University Higher School of Economics (HSE) in Moscow will host the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals of the 1st Annual Student Arbitration Competition, RAA Online Moot,* in the hearing format. Head of VEGAS LEX Litigation group Victor Petrov will be a competition judge. The competition will bring together undergraduate and graduate students of law departments of Russian and foreign universities. A moot case prepared by the RAA will be used for the competition in accordance with the Rules of the RAA Online Moot of October 1, 2015**. The competition is aimed to teaching students the practical skills needed for online arbitration proceedings. The teams will be required to prepare and file legal action and to respond to that action; to participate in online rounds through video conferencing, as well as offline hearings in the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals. The competition will provide a platform to discuss legal issues of handling international commercial disputes; will bring obvious benefits and help the participants to gain valuable experience. *** * The competition is organized by the Russian Arbitration Association (RAA), RAA25, and the HSE Department of Law. ** The preliminary rounds were held from April 20–30, 2016.
