In December 2004, at the request of the Polish consulting group Doradca Consultants Ltd. sp. z o.o., Vegas-Lex performed legal due diligence on a bank in Moscow in which a foreign company was considering making an investment.

Vegas-Lex attorneys won a case on electrical power
In December 2004, Vegas-Lex attorneys won a case for our longtime client, the Rosenergoatom Concern, against Kubanenergo, JSC involving indebtedness on electrical power supplied. The trial court ordered Kubanenergo to pay our client over 182 million rubles.

Tax dispute is won on behalf of Rosenergoatom
In December 2004, the Arbitration Court of Saratov Province affirmed the decision of the trial court in a lawsuit brought by the Rosenergoatom Concern against the tax authorities, who sought to collect over 220 million rubles from Balakovskaya Atomic Power Station.

Business Units of RAO UES and the Vegas-Lex law firm held a conference at the President Hotel in Moscow for the general directors, deputy general directors for legal and corporate affairs, and the directors of the legal departments of the subsidiaries of these Business Units, to discuss the results of the past year and the legal risks of reorganizing energy companies. The agenda included the legal issues that companies in the electrical power sector had faced in 2004 and the practical solutions that the Firm had proposed and implemented.
